I enjoyed my week because there was a lot of amazing things that happened. During the electricity lesson on Tuesday, we were given opportunities to learn how to connect bulbs to cables, as well as more technical aspects such as watts, amps etc.

On Wednesday, we learned a lot about the animals during Mr. Joram /Useb’s lesson. He showed us some video clips about various animals such as yellow mongoose, caracal, cape fox, honey badger and the mountain zebra.

During the afternoon, a guest lecturer on table attendant, Mrs Renee Creus introduced us to the finer details of hospitality and tourism, which included how to treat guests professionally in a restaurant. We were divided into two groups.  We played games that taught us the importance of teamwork.  One such game was the egg and spoon race. We had to place a spoon in our mouths and pass the egg from one team member to another. Our group won the challenge and received a gift.

On Friday we attended a workshop on social connectedness. We were taught about the differences between social isolation and social connectedness. We were given ideas about overcoming social isolation and how to deepen social connectedness. We were given a surprise lunch in the restaurant.

My weekend was fantastic. We were learning about and exposed to Trauma Releasing Exercises. We learnt about trauma and how it affects our bodies. Meeting these facilitators was wonderful. They showed us how to do the exercises that induce shaking. Shaking is a way of releasing trauma, stress and tension. In the beginning, my body shook a lot. During later rounds of the exercise, my body shook less. It was the best weekend I had at !Khwa ttu since I arrived here.
